Steep N Brew West has been owned and operated by the Khalifa family since 2012. The shop was originally owned by Steep & Brew coffees, and has been at Market Square since the mall opened in the 1980's. Steep & Brew coffees and teas are still served, with several sold here exclusively.
We're known for our fresh, locally roasted whole bean coffees, a big selection of leaf and tinned teas, and for our specialty drinks such as Cappuccino, Frosty Cap, Affogato Delight, and Indian Sunset Tea Latte, nitro coffee, cold brew, fruit smoothies, frappes, and many flavors of Italian sodas. Our bakery items are made locally by Madison Sourdough Bakery and Elegant Foods. Our custom mugs, made in Wisconsin by Sunset Hill Stoneware, are lead free, microwave safe, and are available to purchase.

Saad is originally from Alexandria and Suez Egypt, where others of his family remain. Saad, his wife, Ellen, and their son Adam have lived nearby in the neighborhood for many years. They bought TCBY (the country's best yogurt) in 1990 and bought the Steep & Brew shop in 2012. The skill of 25+ years serving ice creams and frozen yogurts is still used every day to make delicious customized drink and desserts.
Saad is committed to the Madison community in many different ways including the weekly gatherings for Coffee with Cops at the shop. He encourages the community to interact with Madison police every week to talk about how to improve our neighborhoods. He's also involved in getting people from all faiths to know and work with each other, highlighting concerns of Jewish and Latino and Muslim Communities.
Kristy has been working for Steep N Brew West since January 2013. In addition to being a knowledgeable, excellent barista, she studied theatre and film at UW Whitewater, and graduated in 2018. The Steep N Brew West “About Us” video was in fact, one of her projects. She's interested comedy and travel.
